StudyMate: AI study assistant with personalization | Ekaterina Leonenko

An individual project focused on creating a personalized AI assistant for high school and college students. StudyMate combines practical organizational features (smart calendar, flashcards, progress tracking) with emotional support and gaming elements. A key feature is the high degree of personalization—users can choose the assistant's character and communication style (from a strict mentor to a friendly companion).

Inspiration was drawn from the Character.AI platform and the game Love and DeepSpace, leading to the unique concept of a "serious assistant with a gaming function." During the semester, the project evolved from a complex application design to a functional Custom GPT prototype.

Ethics: Analysis using Tarot Cards of Tech and Ethical Canvas identified risks of AI dependency, replacement of real relationships with virtual ones, loss of autonomy, and digital inequality. The solution includes transparent communication of limits, balancing online/offline interactions, and ethical personalization.

AI TOOLS USED IN THE PROJECT

  1. ChatGPT 4.o – brainstorming, analysis, creative work, Custom GPT
  2. Qwen Chat – alternative perspectives, comparison of approaches
  3. Character.AI – respondent simulation for questionnaire research
  4. Claude Sonnet – data visualization, alternative analyses
  5. Consensus – academic sources and research findings
  6. DALL-E/Sora – visual identity, application design
  7. Gamma.app – final presentation creation
  8. Perplexity – extended research and investigation
