AI and university communities | Magdaléna Bohuslavová

The project addresses the problem of students' poor orientation in the rich offer of university events and their weak involvement in community life. Students often do not know what is happening at the university, where to start, or whether they will know anyone at the events.

The solution is an AI assistant called "MUNI Event Compass," integrated directly into the information system as a widget on the main page. The system analyzes data from the IS (registered courses, department/faculty, contacts with classmates and teachers, past activities) and provides personalized recommendations for community, cultural, and educational events.

The result is a functional clickable prototype of a recommendation system with a chatbot that takes into account the field of study, individual preferences, and social ties. The project includes test scenarios for different types of students and a comprehensive ethical analysis using Ethics Canvas.

Ethics: The project consistently addresses ethical challenges using Tarot Cards of Tech and Ethics Canvas. It addresses privacy and secure storage of personal data, prevention of algorithmic bias and discrimination, and ensuring accessibility for all student groups regardless of socioeconomic background. It pays particular attention to ethical issues in teacher-student relationships and the risk of manipulation in the academic environment.
