AI in film production | Vojtěch Kupčík

The project deals with the use of artificial intelligence in film production across all stages of filmmaking—from scriptwriting to pre-production, production, post-production, and marketing. The goal is to map out the possibilities of how AI can influence the film industry and find at least two ways to apply AI in each stage of filmmaking.

The main output of the project is the concept of an AI screenwriter—a personalized chatbot designed for film screenwriters to provide inspiration and ideas rather than completely replacing human creativity. The chatbot works by asking structured questions about genre, characters, film pace, and other specific elements to generate a script based on user preferences.

The project includes an analysis of current AI possibilities in cinematography, the creation of visual materials demonstrating the potential of AI, an analysis of data on attitudes toward AI in filmmaking, and a comprehensive ethical analysis of the impact on the film industry. It also includes a proposal for interaction scenarios between the user and the AI assistant for scriptwriting.

Ethics: The project comprehensively addressed ethical aspects using Tarot Cards of Tech and Ethical Canvas. It identified key risks: job losses for film professionals (The Radio Star), loss of human passion and creativity in films (The Siren), the risk of "robotic" films leading to audience distrust (The Backstabber), and a massive revolution across the entire industry (The Smash Hit). Other risks include bias in outputs, copyright infringement, deepfakes, loss of originality, and unclear responsibility for AI-generated content.

AI TOOLS USED IN THE PROJECT

  1. ChatGPT/DALL-E (free) – brainstorming, project structure, generating questionnaires and answers, creating futuristic posters, drafting presentation texts
  2. Claude (free) – comparison with ChatGPT, brainstorming creative ideas, generating visuals (with limited results)
  3. Microsoft Copilot – analysis of data from Excel documents, working with PowerPoint presentations, visual editing
  4. Gemini (free) – experimental testing, working with data
  5. Napkin AI – creation of graphs and visualizations from analyzed data
  6. Gamma AI – automatic presentation creation (with limited results)
  7. Canva – marginal use for presentation materials

OUTCOMES

  • Futuristic posters for the project (created by DALL-E and Claude)
  • Data analysis and visualization (graphs from Napkin AI)
  • AI screenwriter concept (detailed description of chatbot with test scenarios)
  • Project presentation (created using a combination of AI tools)
  • Comprehensive ethical analysis (Ethical Canvas + identification of 8 main risks)
  • AI screenwriter test dialogue (sample scenario of interaction with user)
