Do you like photography? Do you have a visual mind? Why not try using photography to reflect on your being in the world?

One method that leads to reflective learning is working with descriptive language and some essential documentaries. A photographic diary can be conceived in many ways, some of which we will describe in this method. It aims to develop a certain mindfulness of the world and teach people to think about it systematically and creatively.

The great advantage of this method is that it can take advantage of modern technology that most people have at their disposal - a mobile phone or tablet are the most common tools used to create such diaries. On the other hand, if you want better results, albeit at the cost of more work, it is possible to use, for example, a digital SLR camera. However, this usually means that there is an intermediate step of downloading the image to the computer, post-production, and then it is possible to work with the pictures. Using mobile technology is usually more practical because it reduces these overheads.

The condition of the photo diary is that it must be systematic - every day, one photo is taken, and a comment is written and published somewhere. The benefits of such regularity include the development of a specific systematic search for exciting things in the world, thorough diligence, systematicity or ability to overcome crises. All images and commentaries are not of the same quality or equally interesting. To a large extent, they reflect the total inner and outer world of the person who takes and processes them.

Various tools can be used to create a photo blog. The most popular service today is Instagram, where you can post a photo, add hashtags and write a comment - it's up to you whether it's long or short. There are different ways to work with this platform, and its significant advantage is that it works well on mobile devices. Alternatives include Tumblr, which is similarly easy-to-use, or even Flickr.

The key to using this method effectively is regularity - the beginning is easy, but gradually, the technique becomes more and more challenging. If one sticks with it for at least a year, one will experience various waves of fun and enthusiasm, as well as creative crises and problems. In our judgment, a year of photography is a challenging but exciting and meaningful activity if one keeps it within the everyday plane and resists the lure of pre-shot images or pre-written texts. The minimum duration, corresponding to developing some of the competencies mentioned, is around four weeks, a time almost anyone can manage without too much difficulty.
